The crash has prompted members of the North County San Diego community to help families and the base memorialize the fallen. One Murrieta couple for the Marines' memorial service.
In Escondido Friday, members of the Elks Lodge #1687 hosted more than 100 friends and family to celebrate the fallen Marine’s life. Members of the lodge had about two days to plan the private function.

Also lending a hand were Wayne Louth and Albert Kapitanski, of The Flag Man, who volunteered to line the walls of the lodge’s ballroom with flags of the 50 states for the private ceremony.
Dozens of lodge members were there to welcome the attendees.
“They want to be here for nothing else than to let the military know they have our support,” Exalted Ruler Marsha Franklin said. “When things like this happen to the Military we want them to know that we care and we would do anything that we could to help as well.”
