Family Dog Rescued In Riverside County Fire

The dog was apparently overcome by smoke in the blaze that began from the garage.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA -- A family dog was rescued Saturday morning from a Riverside house fire. The fire was reported after midnight in the 11600 block of Hartford, according to the Riverside Fire Department.

The dog was apparently overcome by smoke in the blaze that began from the garage. Nobody else was inside the house, fire officials said.

Firefighters removed the dog from the house and gave him oxygen before transporting him to an animal hospital in Riverside. The dog was treated and released within an hour and reunited with the owner at the scene, fire officials said.

Fire officials said the estimated loss of the house is $150,000.
