Fire Scorches 3 Acres In Homeland
Crews were working to quell the fire, which was burning in light grass in Southwest Riverside County.
HOMELAND, CA — Firefighters were working to quell a blaze burning in the Homeland area early Thursday afternoon, authorities told Patch.
The fire, reported at 11:48 a.m. off of Highway 74 between Melba and White avenues, has scorched at least three acres and was burning in light grass, CalFire/Riverside County Sheriff's Department spokesperson April Newman told Patch.
Although forward progress was stopped just before noon, fire crews had not called the wildfire contained yet, Newman said.

Crews are likely to be on scene for the next few hours, she said.
The agency initially said flames were in the immediate vicinity of homes and a gas station. But Newman said those structures were no longer being threatened.
