Fundraiser Underway For Murrieta Newborn Who Needs Heart Surgery
Sloan Elena Allen-Leal was born June 1 in Temecula, but was quickly admitted into the intensive care unit.

MURRIETA, CA -- A fundraiser is underway Tuesday for a family who recently welcomed a baby girl in need of heart surgery. Sloan Elena Allen-Leal was born with low blood surgar levels on June 1 in Temecula, according to a GoFundMe page created by her father, Taylor.
Taylor wrote that the low blood sugar levels prompted doctors to admit Sloan into the neonatal intensive care unit.
"They noticed the oxygen saturation in her blood to her lungs was far too low," Taylor wrote. "The doctor requested she be sedated and have a breathing tube inserted. (Seeing our 12 hour old Sloan sedated with a breathing tube was the second worst thing we’ve had to see) At this point, the doctor was sure she had a heart murmur, but was unable to test for any heart defects at their facility."

The newborn was then transferred to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego where she is currently awaiting heart surgery, the GoFundMe page said.
"She did great for two days, but on June 7th we got the news that her oxygen saturation was not doing well enough and they are going to schedule her for surgery sometime next week," Taylor wrote.

The family is asking the public for donations as they stay in San Diego to be close to Sloan. The funds will also go toward medical bills, the page said.
Within 24 hours of the fundraiser being launched, the family raised $3,500.
