Gas Leak Forces Riverside County Neighborhood To Shelter In Place Amid Repairs
SoCal Gas authorities were on the scene making repairs to a ruptured gas main as the surrounding neighborhoods were sheltering in place.

PERRIS, CA —Emergency responders raced to a Perris neighborhood Thursday on reports of a gas leak, officials say.
Shortly after 10 a.m., a punctured gas line outside a Perris home prompted a swift response by firefighters. They managed to secure the line, staving off evacuations and street closures.
The rupture was reported on Tahoe Street, near Redlands Avenue, according to the Cal Fire/ Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson Tawny Castro.

The agency said several engine crews were sent to the location and discovered the damaged main that posed a public safety hazard. Cal Fire has cleared the scene shortly before 10:30 a.m.
Firefighters were able to shut off the gas before evacuations or shelter-in-place, as street closures were ordered, according to Castro.

Technicians from SoCal Gas were summoned and were expected to make repairs by early Thursday afternoon
There was no word on what caused the leak.
