'He Heard A Faint Meow': Murrieta PD Cops Rescue 3 Kittens

Several kittens were trapped inside a piece of heavy equipment near police headquarters. A detective and an officer saved them.

MURRIETA, CA — Three kittens were rescued late Monday afternoon by a good Samaritan Murrieta detective sergeant and one of his colleagues who both know how to track down leads.

The detective was leaving work at police headquarters, 2 Town Square, amid searing summer temperatures — likely happy to be heading home.

But his job was not done. As he was getting into his car, he heard a faint “meow” coming from the other side of a wall.

Three kittens were recovered and animal control responded to take custody of the babes, which were estimated to be approximately 2 weeks old, the department reported.

"Unknown how they got in the equipment but thanks to our Detective Sergeant and his keen hearing these kittens are on the road to recovery," the agency said.
