Injuries Reported After Big Rig, Minivan Collide On 215 Freeway In Menifee
The wreck was reported late Tuesday morning.
MENIFEE, CA — Slow traffic Tuesday morning on southbound Interstate 215 through Menifee was due to an injury crash involving a big rig and a minivan, according to authorities.
The crash was reported shortly after 9 a.m. just south of the Newport Road exit.
Details on the crash cause were under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, but Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department reported that three adults and three juveniles suffered "moderate injuries" and were transported to an area hospital. It's not clear what vehicles they were in.

As of 10:36 a.m., the tow process was underway for both vehicles. According to the CHP, the big rig was hauling a refrigerated unit, typically used for transporting temperature-sensitive goods, such as food or pharmaceuticals.
The unit, however, was not loaded, the CHP reported.

The #2 and #3 lanes were blocked due to the crash. As of 10:50 a.m., traffic remained slow in the area.
