Man Lying On I-215 Onramp In Murrieta Struck, Killed By Truck

The California Highway Patrol is requesting any witnesses to contact the agency's Temecula Area office at 951-506-2000.

MURRIETA, CA — A man who was struck and killed Tuesday morning on a Murrieta freeway onramp was lying in the road when he was hit, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported at approximately 2:59 a.m. on the Clinton Keith Road onramp to southbound Interstate 215.

For reasons still under investigation, the man was lying horizontal in the onramp lane, according to the CHP. The driver of a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado saw the pedestrian, but not until it was too late to avoid hitting him. The victim died at the scene, the agency reported.

The 37-year-old Murrieta man at the wheel of the Chevy truck was cooperating with the CHP. He was not injured in the incident and no arrests were announced.

The victim's name was not released pending notification of next of kin.
