Menifee Father And Son Graduate College Together: Report
David Perez quit college to raise a family. But it came full circle when he got to graduate with his son.
MENIFEE, CA — A father and son from Menifee just earned their college degrees together, but it was a long time coming and the effort didn't come without strife, The Press-Enterprise reported.
David Perez, who emigrated to the U.S. from Mexico when he was a teenager, recalls humble beginnings and hard work.
After finishing high school, he enrolled at Chaffey Community College but ultimately had to drop out to help his parents financially and raise a family with his wife Angelica.

"I chose to pause my education to focus on raising my two boys," he told the newspaper.
Last month, his selfless choice came full circle when he received his degree in business administration from Southern New Hamshire University at 52 years old alongside his 24-year-old son, Angel. His eldest son, 27-year-old David, graduated from UC Riverside in 2019.

Angel and his father traveled more than 3,000 miles to New Hampshire to walk across the graduation stage together, according to the newspaper.
"His story has also taught me to work hard to make something of yourself as the world won’t just give you success," Angel said.
