Menifee High School Teacher Arrested After Altercation With Student

The 54-year-old teacher was booked into county jail on suspicion of child abuse at Heritage High School.

MENIFEE, CA — A teacher at Menifee's Heritage High School was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of misdemeanor child abuse after she allegedly assaulted a student at the campus.

Shortly before 3 p.m., Stacey Lynne MacPherson, 54, was taken into custody at the high school located at 26001 Briggs Road. She was cited and released a short time later, jail records show.

The Menifee Police Department, which made the arrest, released a statement Tuesday evening.

According to the agency, at approximately 1:46 p.m. Tuesday, a school resource officer was notified of alleged child abuse at the campus.

"The investigation revealed an altercation occurred between the teacher and student," police said. "The student sustained a minor injury during the incident and did not require medical attention. The teacher was placed under arrest for child abuse."

Further information about the incident was not released.

MacPherson has been a teacher for more than 25 years, serving about half of that time period at Heritage. The high school is part of the Perris Union High School District. A statement from the district was unavailable at the time of this report.

Riverside County court records show MacPherson has never been charged with a crime in the county.
