Menifee Police Standoff Ends With Suspect Taken Into Custody

MENIFEE, CA — A Menifee man who barricaded himself in his home Monday after allegedly assaulting his father was taken into custody, police confirmed.

The incident unfurled just before 7:30 a.m. when Menifee police officers responded to the residence in the 27000 block of Adams Avenue.

According to the Menifee Police Department, 25-year-old Ulises Ramiro Villa Pacheco allegedly assaulted his father and then barricaded himself inside the residence that the two men lived in.

The father had escaped the home, and his son was alone inside when police arrived at the scene, according to Menifee PD.

Members of the Crisis Negotiation Team contacted the barricaded man. After nearly three hours, Pacheco surrendered and was taken into custody.

Menifee PD spokesman Chase Coburn told City News Service that neighboring homes were not evacuated during the ordeal.

The father, whose identity was not released, was treated for his injuries but apparently did not require hospitalization, according to City News Service.

Background information on Pacheco was unavailable, and there was no word on what might have triggered the alleged assault.

"This was an isolated incident with no threat to the public and no outstanding suspects," Menifee police said.
