Menifee Teen Struck While Skateboarding Remains Critically Injured
Police shared the details of the incident in West Menifee, where the teen was struck while crossing at a marked crosswalk late Monday.
MENIFEE, CA — A Menifee teen struck while skateboarding through an intersection on the west end of town suffered major injuries, authorities said Tuesday. He remains in critical but stable condition, according to police.
The boy, identified only as a Menifee teen, was hit at 9:35 p.m. Monday at Murrieta and Murphy Ranch roads, according to the Menifee Police Department spokesperson Chase Coburn.
He was riding his non-motorized skateboard southbound on Murrieta Road when he entered the intersection. He did not have on any reflective gear when he was hit by a motorist in a Honda Civic, according to Coburn. The Civic's speed was not immediately disclosed.

"The juvenile, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the skateboard upon impact and sustained injuries to his head, along with abrasions to his arms," Coburn said. "The driver immediately stopped to render aid, and a passenger in the vehicle called 911."
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department paramedics treated the boy at the scene, after which he was taken to a regional trauma center, where he remains.

The motorist, whose identity was not disclosed, was questioned but not arrested.
"Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol are contributing factors," Coburn said.
