Murrieta Invites Community To Pay Tribute To 9/11 Victims

This year's tribute comes as a 9/11 victim from Riverside County was just recently identified more than two decades after the attacks.

MURRIETA, CA — On the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, the city of Murrieta is hosting a tribute ceremony to honor those lost on that day.

The tribute will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be held in Town Square Park & Amphitheater, 11 Town Square.

"All are welcome to attend this community gathering as we reflect on the events of that day and remember the strength and unity that followed," the city said in a release.

This year's tribute arrives as a 9/11 victim from Riverside County was just recently identified more than two decades after the attacks.

A Palm Springs resident, 72-year-old Barbara Keating, was a passenger on American Airlines Flight 11, which authorities say slammed into the North Tower shortly before 9 a.m. that day, within an hour of departing Boston, marking the start of airborne mayhem that fateful day.

Keating, along with 26-year-old Ryan Fitzgerald of Floral Park, New York, were the latest casualties positively identified, bringing the total number of World Trade Center victims whose remains have been publicly confirmed to 1,653, officials said.
