Murrieta PD Introduces New K-9: Fender

Meet Fender: Murrieta's newest four-legged officer has completed his training and is ready to serve alongside his handler, Officer Calise.

MURRIETA, CA — The Murrieta Police Department is introducing its newest officer — a German Shepard named Fender.

Fender, 4 years old, just completed his 240 hours of basic training with his handler, Officer Calise. The pair were certified as a Patrol K9 team on Aug. 29, the Murrieta Police Department wrote on social media Wednesday.

For the next several weeks, Fender and Calise will be working through an internal training program with seasoned handlers.

"If you see Officer Calise and K9 Fender around town; don’t hesitate to stop and say hi," Murrieta Police wrote on Instagram.

If you want to see Fender in action, the department's newest K9 be out at the annual K9 Trial on Feb. 14, 2026.
