Murrieta Presidents Day 2025: What's Closed, What's Open

From banks to the courts, here's what will be closed on the holiday meant to celebrate George Washington and his successors.

MURRIETA, CA — For many in Murrieta, Presidents' Day is a day of reprieve and rest as banks, schools and some employers (including Patch) offer a day off.

While the holiday's original roots were meant to honor the United States' inaugural president George Washington, the federal holiday was expanded to observe Abraham Lincoln and all U.S. presidents.

Students across six different Riverside County school districts — including Murrieta Valley USD — were even lucky enough to have Lincoln's birthday (Feb. 12) observed on Friday, Feb. 14, to enjoy both Valentine's Day off and a long weekend.
