Murrieta Salvation Army Red Kettle Donations Down
The shortfall of $35,000 is significant, which is why this plea for help was issued.

Murrieta, CA (December 17, 2013) - The Salvation Army in Murrieta is facing a serious shortfall this year in Red Kettle donations, down $35,000 from this time last year.
Because of a shorter time between Thanksgiving (when the iconic Red Kettles go out) and Christmas, The Salvation Army has 5 fewer days for fundraising. Now, with less than a week until the bell ringing campaign ends on Christmas Eve, Salvation Army officers in Murrieta worry that they won’t meet their goal of raising $140,000 to support vital programs in the Southwest Riverside community.
“We need Red Kettle donations to help people all year long,” said Major Darren Trimmer, pastor and administrator of the Salvation Army in Murrieta. “Right now we need donations to bring the miracle of Christmas to those who are hungry, those who have lost their jobs, those who hope to give their children at least one toy on Christmas morning. But when Christmas is over, those people still face hunger, job loss, discouragement and we desperately want to help them all year long.”
Those wishing to help can:
