Meet 13-year-old Caden Clugston — a straight-A student, athlete, volunteer, and leader whose heart and drive are far beyond his years. Caden has received countless awards in multiple subjects both in and out of school, a reflection of his deep commitment to excellence. But what truly sets him apart is his compassion. Instead of filling his Christmas list with things for himself, he thinks of others first — volunteering at soup kitchens in Los Angeles, donating care packages and supplies to the local military, and tutoring his friends in math and English. He even returns regularly to his elementary school to help younger students with extracurricular activities, school plays, and campus tasks.

His teachers know they can always count on him, and his friends instinctively turn to him for guidance. Caden has a heart of gold and deserves every bit of happiness and peace life can offer. And while I can sit here and tell you just how amazing Caden is — what a gem he is — the true magnitude of his personality, heart, and value could never be fully captured in words.

While many kids his age are focused solely on fun, Caden balances football and basketball with an active role as a youth court attorney, volunteering his time to help juveniles in legal trouble. He carries the weight of the world not because he must, but because he believes in doing good. Caden is always looking for ways to improve himself and to lift others higher.

His love for life is contagious, his devotion to his family is indescribable, and his commitment to humanity is immeasurable. It’s no surprise that his short-term goal is to become a police officer, with long-term dreams of serving in the U.S. Air Force and one day working for the CIA. With so many accomplishments already behind him, there’s no stopping this incredible young man. There’s no wonder — and no question in anyone’s mind — why Caden Clugston deserves to win this award with the Murrieta Patch.
