Murrieta USD Incumbents Fighting To Hold Seats: Election 2024
In the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, Trustee Areas 3, 4, and 5 are on the ballot, and all feature incumbents.
MURRIETA, CA — While the hottest race on the Nov. 5 ballot is the presidential election — pitting Vice President Kamala Harris against former President Donald J. Trump — there are plenty of races to watch in Murrieta.
In the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, Trustee Areas 3, 4, and 5 are on the ballot, and all feature incumbents.
In Trustee Area 3, challenger Yvonne Munoz is taking on incumbent Julie Vandegrift. Trustee Area 4 features candidate Eleanor Cruz Briggs facing off against incumbent Linda Lunn. Trustee Area 5 pits incumbent Paul F. Diffley against challengers Deon Mario Hairston and Christine Schmidt.

The school district races aren't the only contests. Districts 3 and 4 for Murrieta City Council are on the ballot this year, and incumbents are running in both races.
In District 3, incumbent Lisa DeForest will face challengers Michael DeSena and John Nakagawa. District 4 incumbent Lori Stone is pitted against challengers Javier L. Rubalcaba and Frank Madrid.

In Murrieta, several water board races are also on the ballot, as is the contest between 48th Congressional District incumbent Darrell E. Issa (R) and challenger Stephen Houlahan (D).
Additionally, 71st State Assembly District incumbent Kate Sanchez (R) faces off against challenger Gary Kephart (D).
