Palm Desert Area Could See Slightly Rainy, Gusty Weather This Weekend

Showers were possible early Friday morning through Saturday with gusts as high as 30mph and lows around 44 degrees.

PALM DESERT, CA — Sunny and warm temperatures in Palm Desert were expected to diminish Thursday night as rain, blustery conditions and cooler temperatures were expected to persist through the weekend.

A system of low-pressure is drifting toward the region, bringing cooler air, windier conditions and a good chance of showers across Southern California Thursday through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

"Rain showers currently over the Bay Area will drift toward our
area as early as this evening," NWS forecasters said Thursday. "Scattered showers will occur mainly from the coastal slopes to the beaches tonight into Friday where the best chance of precipitation will occur."

The Inland Empire was expected to see lighter rain totals than neighboring San Diego County.

In Palm Desert, a 10% chance of rain was possible after 4 a.m. on Friday. It will be mostly clear Thursday evening with a low of around 49 degrees with winds of 10 mph and gusts as high as 25 mph possible.

On Friday, residents could see showers before 10 a.m. and another chance of rain after 4 p.m. Wind gusts could push as high as 30 mph. The overall chance of rain is 20%, NWS reported.

Saturday will bring another slight chance of showers after 10 a.m. but mostly sunny skies will persist with a high of 66 degrees.

"The system will push out by Sunday, leading to drier weather," NWS officials said.

Sunday night will be mostly clear with a low of around 47 degrees in Palm Desert.
