Pedestrian Killed In Crash In Hemet

A 30-year-old man was killed when he darted into the roadway on Mountain Avenue in Hemet on Thursday, police said.

MURRIETA, CA — Police Saturday continued to investigate a crash that left a pedestrian dead in Hemet.

It happened at 7:12 p.m. Thursday when a man walking on the northern edge of Mountain Avenue suddenly darted into the roadway and was struck by a westbound 2002 Honda Civic near Soboba Street, according to Hemet police.

The pedestrian, identified only as a 30-year-old Hemet man, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and later died.

Authorities said the driver of the Civic, Ismael Baez, 34, of San Bernardino, remained at the scene, cooperated with police and was not suspected of being intoxicated.
