Coroner IDs Pedestrian Struck, Killed On I-15: Temescal Valley

Police said the 34-year-old​ victim died after he was struck by a Freightliner truck that​ drove off the shoulder of the roadway.

CORONA, CA — A pedestrian died early Wednesday morning when he was struck by a tractor-trailer on the shoulder of the I-15 Northbound Indian Truck Trail off-ramp, police said.

According to a release from Riverside police, 34-year-old Dustin Dack, of Helendale, was walking northbound on the right shoulder of the off ramp just before he was struck at 3:12 a.m.

A tractor-trailer driven by Michael Culp, 64, of Riverside, exited the freeway as Dack neared. The truck drove off the shoulder of the roadway and struck Dack, killing him, police said.

At the time of the crash, the truck was moving at 40 miles per hour, police said.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Anyone who has information about the crash, or who saw it, is asked to call California Highway Patrol, Accident Investigation Unit at (951) 637-8000.
