Person Dies In Winchester House Fire East Of Murrieta

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — One person was found dead inside a large, two-story house heavily damaged by fire in the Winchester area east of Menifee, authorities said Wednesday.

The fire was reported at 8:47 p.m. Tuesday in the 33000 block of Newport Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The house was about 50 percent involved in flames when firefighters arrived, fire officials said.

The flames were out at 10:15 p.m., officials said.

Firefighters found the deceased person during a search of the residence, officials said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
