Resident Burned In Riverside County House Fire, Home 'A Total Loss:' Cal Fire
The agency said sheriff's deputies were first on the scene and encountered flames raging in the single-story house. A cat remains missing.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A woman suffered major burns Wednesday in a residential fire that also significantly damaged the property on the east end of Moreno Valley, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department shared.
The home is a total loss, as the entire structure was devoured by fire, Capt. John Clingingsmith told Patch.
The blaze was reported at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday at 29305 Highland Blvd., near Juniper Avenue, in a lightly populated location fronting the Badlands north of the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, according to the department.

Riverside County Sheriff's deputies were the first to arrive at the location and encountered flames raging in the two-story house, according to Clingingsmith.
Deputies pulled the woman out of the smoke-filled residence, placing her in the driveway, where paramedics rendered aid before AMR medics transported her to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Burn Unit.

"Burns covered 50% of the victim's body," according to officials at the scene. No other information about the patient would be shared, they said.
"Half the crew went to extinguish the fire, the other half assessed and treated her at the scene," Clingingsmith said. The woman was alone in the house, and though a cat was thought to be inside the home, no animals were found either alive or deceased, he said.
"Firefighters remained on the lookout for any signs of a cat," he said.
By noon, crews had contained mainly the blaze, the cause of which wasn't immediately known. A total of eight engines and 38 personnel were working the scene, and would perform an "extensive overhaul."
The home was rendered unlivable.
