PERRIS, CA — A 27-year-old high school coach suspected of inappropriate contact with students was taken into custody Thursday in Perris.

Jesse Gonsalez Lopez was booked on suspicion of child annoyance, sexual battery, and lewd and lascivious acts with a minor on Thursday after investigators connected the coach to allegations made against him in August when deputies responded to the 100 block of Nuevo Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Lopez was placed on administrative leave as investigators with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit conducted an ongoing investigation into the allegations.
