RivCo Road Rage Suspect 'Aimed A Weapon At Another Driver,' Cops Say

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A motorist suspected of pointing a semiautomatic rifle at another driver with a child in his car during a road rage confrontation in Moreno Valley was released from custody Tuesday after posting an $85,000 bond.
Christopher Griffin, 35, of Moreno Valley was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside on Monday on suspicion of assault with a firearm, possession of an assault weapon, carrying a concealed gun in a vehicle, child endangerment and making terrorist threats.
He obtained the required bail Tuesday morning and was released from the downtown jail.

The encounter occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Monday in the 13000 block of Scotty Lane, near Atwood Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Sgt. Marcos Acosta said the victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was driving with his child in the backseat when an unspecified incident prompted Griffin to allegedly pull alongside and level an AR-15 at him.

No shots were fired, and no one was injured.
The suspect fled the location immediately afterward, Acosta alleged.
He said the victim contacted deputies, culminating in an investigation that utilized images captured via the Moreno Valley Citywide Camera System.
Griffin's vehicle was identified within an hour, and he was tracked down and taken into custody without incident at a property on Scotty Lane, according to sheriff's officials.
Acosta said the loaded AR-15 was seized from the suspect's vehicle after a search warrant was obtained, along with another rifle in the suspect's residence, as well as a .22-caliber revolver and various calibers of ammunition.
