We all know someone who's making a difference in this difficult time. Let's help share these amazing stories!

MURRIETA, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.
This submission comes from Nicki Velasco of Wildomar, who nominated her mom, Betty Knapp of Murrieta:
Is the nominee considered an “essential worker”?:

What does the nominee do for work?:
My mom is retired and for over 15 years she’s been feeding the homeless a hot lunch every Tuesday.
Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Rain or shine, every Tuesday she runs a soup kitchen (through our church) and feeds anyone who’s hungry a nice hot spaghetti lunch. With this pandemic, every other week day has been closed for lunch-and no more hot spaghetti (for now). But on Tuesdays, she's there, mask on, giving groceries to those in need.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
She cares about her community, and gives her time, selflessly, to help others.
Thank you for all you do, Betty!
