Son Arrested In Father's Killing, RivCo Homicide Detectives Say

A Mead Valley man's son was arrested on suspicion of ending his father's life Sunday.

MEAD VALLEY, CA — A 70-year-old Mead Valley man was found dead, his son was arrested on suspicion of killing him, authorities said Monday.

Angel Gonzalez was identified as the victim of the slaying, his son, Juan Gonzalez, was arrested on suspicion of ending his father's life.

On Sunday, shortly before 4:15 a.m., Riverside County Sheriff's Perris Station deputies were summoned to the 20000 block of Clark Street to investigate an unresponsive male, according to sheriff's Sgt. Alberto Loureiro.

"Upon arrival, deputies located the male and performed lifesaving measures, but the male, later identified as Angel Gonzalez, a 70-year-old resident of Mead Valley, was pronounced deceased at the scene," Loureiro said. .

Riverside Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit was requested and assumed the investigation.

During the investigation, Gonzalez's son was an ongoing investigation. He was being held on pending felony charges of murder and robbery at the Southwest Detention Center and bail was set at $1 million, according to sheriff's inmate records.

He was slated to appear in court on Dec. 3 at the Riverside Hall Of Justice.
