Suspect Sought In Fatal Southwest Riverside County Shooting

One man died in a North Hamilton Avenue alleyway, near Latham Avenue, according to the Hemet Police Department.

HEMET, CA — A man was fatally shot during a confrontation Wednesday in a Hemet alleyway, after which the assailant fled and remains at large.

The attack happened about 1:45 a.m. in the 200 block of North Hamilton Avenue, near Latham Avenue, according to the Hemet Police Department.

Det. Brian Wood said that the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was confronted by the gunman for unknown reasons, culminating in several shots being fired.

The assailant ran away before police reached the location.

Patrol officers and paramedics attempted life-saving measures on the victim, who was taken to Hemet Global Medical Center, where he died a short time later, according to Wood.
