Woman Killed In Murrieta I-215 Crash Was Not Wearing Seatbelt: CHP

The woman was driving a 2015 Fiat 500 when her car was clipped by a pickup towing a trailer.

MURRIETA, CA — A woman killed in a crash last week on Interstate 215 in Murrieta was not wearing a seatbelt, the California Highway Patrol announced Monday.

Jasmine Gomez, 42, of Hemet died just before noon Thursday in the wreck on southbound I-215, north of Linnel Lane.

According to a preliminary CHP crash report, Gomez was at the wheel of her 2015 Fiat 500, traveling at about 65 mph in the No. 2 lane, when the driver of a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 pulling a flatbed trailer and going about the same speed, moved into her lane from the No. 3 lane.

"The left side of the Dodge's trailer collided with the [passenger] side of the Fiat, causing it to veer left," according to the CHP report. "The Fiat collided with the concrete center divider wall and overturned before coming to rest."

Murrieta Fire & Rescue crews extricated Gomez from the car and pronounced her dead at the scene.

The pickup driver, identified only as a 30-year-old Texas man, was not injured. He was detained for questioning by officers, who did not arrest him.
