2 Tri-City Ambulatory Surgery Centers Rank Among Best In CA

NEWARK, CA — Dozens of California's ambulatory surgical centers recently ranked among the best facilities in the nation, according to a new report.

Two tri-city facilities made the list, including Sutter Health and Fremont Surgery Center, according to America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2022, a new list from Newsweek compiled in partnership with Statista.

The East Bay has the following centers on the list:

Aspen Surgery Center, No. 20, Walnut Creek

Sutter Health Surgery Center, No. 34, Fremont

Fremont Surgery Center, No. 80, Fremont

Statewide, 83 facilities were ranked among 470 Medicare-certified centers across the nation to help Americans "make knowledgeable choices when they seek care for themselves or loved ones," according to the report.

The facilities typically specialize in orthopedic surgery, cardiac surgery, eye surgery, spinal surgery and more. Ambulatory centers also provide a space for quick turnaround procedures in which a patient is able to go home shortly after surgery or, at most, within 24 hours.

Working with Statista, Newsweek analyzed performance data and surveyed experts, nurses, therapists, physicians, administrators and surgeons to recommend the best surgery centers in the state.

Across the nation, 4,600 centers were analyzed, according to Newsweek.

California had the largest number of surgical centers that were highly ranked; Mississippi had the fewest, with just four making the list.

Participants were also asked to rank facilities based on their response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
