Big Rig Collision Closes Lanes on Interstate 880

California Highway Patrol has closed three lanes on Southbound Interstate 880 due to a big rig collision, according to the CHP traffic incident reports. At one point, four lanes were closed.

The incident occurred just before 10:50 a.m. Wednesday and at least one other vehicle was involved, according to the CHP website. It is unknown whether injuries were reported but an ambulance was called to the scene.

A witness emailed in and said the accident is on the center divider on the freeway between the exits of Thornton and Mowry avenues. Another witness said traffic was backed up to at least Whipple Avenue in Union City.
