One of three suspects who reportedly fled from police Wednesday morning remains in critical condition, according an Eden Medical Center spokesperson.

Rajwaun Watkins, 20, of Oakland and Hayward, suffered head trauma after the Chevy Malibu he and two other passengers were in collided with a two-door Honda.

The driver and sole occupant of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. That person’s identity has yet to be released, but a report from The Argus states the victim was a Pleasanton man.

A neighbor reported that three suspects had kicked in the door of a home on Mistflower Drive around 9:54 a.m. and when officers arrived and attempted to stop the vehicle on Central Avenue near Birch Street, the driver of the Chevy Malibu fled the scene, according to Cmdr. Bob Douglas of the Newark Police Department.

Police said the officer pursued the Chevy Malibu for about a half mile but called off the chase when the driver of the Chevy Malibu began driving at speeds nearing 80 mph while traveling southbound on Cedar Boulevard, according to a Newark police press release.

The Chevy Malibu was traveling westbound on Mowry Avenue before when it collided with the two-door Honda, police said.

The two-door Honda was pushed onto the sidewalk in front of Alameda County Fire Department Station No. 27 and the Chevy Malibu rolled over on impact and overturned into the parking lot of the fire station, police said.

When officers arrived, Watkins was found in the vehicle. Police did not say who was driving the Chevy Malibu and Douglas said that factor is still under investigation.

The other two occupants, Jabrie Watts and Deshon Collier, both 20, both fled the scene, police said.

Watts was captured across the street from the collision scene and Collier was found about one mile from the scene near the Pick N' Pull junk yard.

All three were initially transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, but Collier and Watts were released Wednesday afternoon, Dove said.

During a 3:30 p.m. press conference on Wednesday, police said Collier and Watts were in custody.

According to online court documents, only Watts has been booked into Santa Rita Jail. Watts is facing one count of parole violation.

Online court documents also show that an individual with the same name and age as Collier was charged and sentenced for a variety of charges stemming from a 2009 incident.

Those charges included carrying a loaded firearm, negligent shooting of a firearm, exhibiting a deadly weapon that is not a firearm and knowingly receiving stolen property totaling more than $400.
