Click It Or Ticket: Police Enforcing Seatbelt Laws
The statewide campaign to buckle up while driving runs through June 3.

The, in conjunction with the California Office of Traffic Safety will be looking for drivers and passengers who don’t buckle up during the Click it or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign.
The Click it or Ticket mobilization runs from May 21st – June 3rd and is aimed at getting 100 percent of California drivers and passengers to wear seat belts.

Click it or Ticket debuted in California in 2005, and since then the state’s seat belt use rate has increased from 92.5 percent to a record high of 96.2 percent.
The increase represents 1.25 million more vehicle occupants who have started buckling up during that time.

The minimum ticket cost of an adult seat belt violation in California is $142 and up, and a minimum of $445 for not properly restraining a child under 16 years of age.
The Newark Police Department will be actively enforcing the seat belt law day and night, so please don’t put your own life at risk, or the life of your family or friends.
