Officers Arrest Man Who Injured Victim At Least Three Times

A 26-year-old Newark man was arrested after authorities responded to a Newark home around noon on Sunday for a report of domestic violence. Officers said the man fled before their arrival, but authorities learned he battered the female victim at least three different times prior, resulting in “significant injuries,” police said. Authorities said the woman had been suffered a concussion and had been burned with a curling iron during those different occasions. Cmdr. Michael Carroll said he did not believe the victim sustained visible injuries from Sunday's incident. The man was later arrested when he returned to the home and an emergency protective order was issued. He was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and was taken to a local hospital for treatment before being booked into jail. According to the Alameda County Jail inmate custody system, he faces charges of inflicting corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant and driving without a license and was booked into Santa Rita Jail on a $65,000 bail.

Man Hides Drugs – In Rectum

Officers arrested a 48-year-old Union City man on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and under the influence of a controlled substance after they made contact with him at Jack in the Box around 2:15 p.m. Thursday.  Police transported him back to the Newark Police Department station and decided to conduct a strip search, which is when they say they found the man had hidden a plastic baggie of suspected methamphetamine inside his rectum. The man was booked into Santa Rita Jail

Woman Steals Victoria’s Secret Bras

A 24-year-old Albany woman was arrested after NewPark Mall security learned that she had stolen merchandise from Victoria’s Secret. Authorities learned the woman had stolen a drawer worth of bras and she was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary just before noon on Thursday. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Pair Robs Women At Gunpoint

Police are looking for two male suspects after a woman reported that she was waiting in her car in front of her friend’s home on the 36700 block of Birch Street around 7:15 a.m. Thursday when one suspect approached her with a black revolver and got into the car’s passenger seat. The man stole the woman’s wallet and cell phone but did not get away before the woman’s friend came out of the house, according to an alert from the . Both suspects walked the two women back into the home, laid them on the floor and fled, police said. No injuries were reported. for more information and the suspects’ description.

Check Cashing Center Employee Robbed at Gunpoint

An employee of a cash checking center reported an armed robbery after a male suspect approached the her at gunpoint at the , 39958 Cedar Blvd. around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, police said. The man was described to have been of medium complexion wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. Police said he is possibly Asian. for more information.

Assault and Battery

A 49-year-old man was arrested after an injured woman fled to the police station around 6:45 a.m. Sunday and complained of pain she sustained from an alleged assault. The woman was transported to Washington Hospital and the man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and booked into Fremont City Jail.

Burglary and Theft

A 29-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of shoplifting at Macy’s in NewPark Mall around 4:10 p.m. Friday.

Two Union City women, both 18 years old, were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from Macy’s at NewPark Mall around 10:25 p.m. on Thursday. They were booked into Fremont Jail.

A 28-year-old Santa Nella man was arrested on suspicion of theft after he was found in Hayward inside of a stolen vehicle reported out of Newark around 3 a.m. Thursday.

A home burglary was reported around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday on the 8200 block of Juniper Avenue. Police said suspects entered through an open bathroom window and more suspected entered after one suspect opened a rear sliding door. The burglary occurred some time between 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

A 1993 White Mazda with a black hood and black trunk lid was reported stolen from the 37000 block of Locust Street just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

A vehicle that was reported stolen on April 12 was found on the 36700 block of Olive Street around 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

A burglary was reported on the 6700 block of Cedar Boulevard just after noon on Wednesday. Police said someone gained entry through a window between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and ransacked the home.

A 23-year-old Richmond woman was arrested on suspicion of burglary at Sears around 3:20 p.m. on Monday. She was booked into Fremont City Jail.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 25-year-old Bay Point man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public after they found him walking in the street at Mowry Avenue around 9:50 p.m. Saturday and booked him into Fremont City Jail.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop on Thornton Avenue just before 10 p.m. on Saturday and was booked into Fremont City Jail.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, under the influence of a controlled substance and driving without a license around Peach Tree Avenue at Spruce Street just after midnight on Saturday. The man was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A 49-year-old Castro Valley man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and being under the influence of a controlled substance during a traffic stop at Interstate 880 and Thornton Avenue around 1 p.m. Friday and booked into Fremont City Jail.

A 25-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of possession of hashish, possession of illegal prescription medication and parole violation around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after a police K-9 indicated that hashish was inside of the man’s vehicle during a traffic stop. Police also found a possible stolen Xbox and two other people’s identifications inside of the vehicle.

A 27-year-old Newark woman was arrested and cited on suspicion of driving under the influence during a traffic stop at Thornton Avenue and Mayhews Landing Road around midnight on Wednesday. She was later released.

A 46-year-old San Leandro woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia at 11 a.m. Monday at the EZ-8 Motel. She was booked into Fremont City Jail.

Miscellaneous

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a hit and run after authorities responded to an injury collision near Newark Boulevard and Ruschin Drive and found learned that one of the vehicles involved had fled in a white Mitsubishi sedan. They later found that vehicle after they learned that the white Mitsubishi had rear-ended another vehicle while that vehicle was stopping for a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk. The car that was rear-ended hit another vehicle and the occupants of both vehicles suffered from minor injuries. The man was arrested and given a citation.

A homeless man was arrested after officers were called to the 4900 block of Stafford Place to check on a person’s well-being around 9 a.m. Friday and found that the person who called the report in said her father was expected to return home from Portola Valley that morning but did not show up. At that point, officers saw the man, who is not allowed to be at the home by court order, and the man fled to the backyard of a neighboring home. He was arrested after police found him in the yard on suspicion of violating a court order and delaying arrest. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violating a court order around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday after authorities responded to a family disturbance on the 37400 block of Cherry Street to find the Newark man arguing with his son. The man’s daughter, whom he is restrained from, was also inside of the home. He was arrested and booked into Fremont Jail.

In response to an investigation of a felony hit-and-run accident that occurred on April 16, a 30-year-old Fremont man was arrested from the Applebee’s in Fremont and booked into Santa Rita Jail around 10:55 p.m. Tuesday.
