Public Input on Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge Draft Plan Sought
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service opens public comment session for draft 15-year plan for Don Edwards San Francisco Bay Wildlife Refuge
The following is a press release issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service:
FREMONT, CA – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service published a draft Comprehensive Conservation Plan for the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge in the Federal Register Wednesday, May 16, 2012.
The draft 15-year plan proposes several changes for the refuge, including:
- More opportunities for wildlife photography
A nature exploration area for children
Greater fishing access
Curtailed dog-walking in a few areas near sensitive wildlife habitat
Increased weed control
Designed habitat for shore birds and waterfowl
A new visitor center in Fremont, CA
A 45-day public comment period on the draft plan will extend until July 2, 2012.
