Newark Police made 5 arrests last week for both violent and property crimes.
NEWARK, CA — Newark Police arrested 5 people last week for both violent and property crimes. Most of the accused are from Newark, but a suspect from Vallejo was also arrested.
Here is a narrative of the arrests from the police department.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2023:
9:00 a.m.: Officer Orozco investigated a domestic violence incident that occurred on Bennington Drive. A 61-year-old female out of Newark was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2023:
8:46 a.m.: Officer Williams was dispatched to a male slumped over the wheel in the area of Cherry Street and Dairy Avenue. As he arrived on scene, he observed the vehicle leaving the area. The driver, a 38-year-old male out of Newark, made an illegal U-turn and was unable to maintain his lane. Officer Williams initiated a traffic enforcement stop and ultimately arrested him for driving under the influence and probation violations.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2023:
2:46 a.m.: Officers responded to Cedar Boulevard for a report of a domestic violence incident. Officer Herrera arrested a 42-year-old male out of Newark for domestic violence. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:40 p.m.: Officers responded to Newark Boulevard and Central Avenue for a report of an intoxicated subject stumbling in the street. Officer Swadener located a 27-year-old male out of Newark and arrested him for being drunk in public. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2023:
12:39 AM: Officer Riddles stopped a 26-year-old female out of Vallejo and determined she was driving under the influence. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
