Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Struck By Car

A 59-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle in Fremont Tuesday evening, police said.

Fremont police said the woman was walking westbound in a crosswalk on Civic Center Drive around 5 p.m. when she was hit by a sedan travelling northbound on Civic Center Drive.

Responding officers said the woman was unresponsive and appeared to have a major head injury when they arrived, police said. She was transported to Eden Hospital where she remains in critical condition, authorities said.

The 19-year-old driver of the sedan was uninjured. Police said it does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision.
