Ex-Lover of Former Supervisor Nadia Lockyer Won't Face Criminal Charges

Former Alameda County Supervisor Nadia Lockyer’s ex-lover who was accused of assaulting her in a Feb. 3 hotel room in Newark is not going to be facing charges, according to a report from the San Jose Mercury News.

The San Jose Mercury News reported in its article:

[California State Department of Justice] Communications director Shum Preston said the department "has thoroughly reviewed the matter referred to us by the Alameda County District Attorney's office regarding the Feb. 3 incident at a Newark hotel involving Nadia Lockyer. After reviewing the evidence, the department has determined that it will not file charges."

… [Lockyer] had reported to Newark police that Stephen Chikhani of San Jose, her lover since the summer of 2010, had attacked her in the Newark hotel room she had rented for herself and her son following an argument with her husband, state Treasurer Bill Lockyer.

The announcement comes within the same week that the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, who said she was leaving her seat .
