Flipping Flapjacks to Raise Funds
Newark Band Boosters hosts first Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser.

Pancakes will flip and coffee will pour Saturday as the Newark Band Boosters hosts its Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser.
Community members are invited to fill up their stomachs while supporting the bands of and schools.
The event will take place from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. The cost will be $8 at the door. Yhe Newark Symphonic Winds are slated to provide entertainment starting at 9 a.m.

The fundraiser is part of the Newark Band Boosters’ goal of raising travel funds for the students’ spring competition, the Heritage Festival in Anaheim, Booster President Lorie Mohs said. The parent-led organization even aims to provide some food for the students during the four-day trip.
“Our goal is just to be able to provide as much food as possible for the kids so it’s not a financial burden for the parents,” Mohs said.

The fundraiser is sponsored by Newark eateries and . Costco and Peet’s Coffee and Tea in Fremont also donated to the event, according to Erika Glieden, Newark Band Boosters vice president.
Holy Trinity is letting the organization use its space for free.
Glieden said she is happy to see the outpouring of community support.
“I’ve been very impressed with how quick and willing they were to help,” she said.
