Goodguys 30th Birthday Event Will Feature Cars from Eric Clapton and Metallica's James Hetfield

Goodguys is celebrating 30 years of classic car shows at the with an All-American car show and 1980s bash March 24-25.

In honor of the big birthday, there will be a "Flashback Sunday," with a special 1980s playlist and a special parking area for cars built in 1983 — the year of the first Goodguys event.

Organizers want fans to bring out American-made or powered 1983 model vehicles and wear 80’s apparel and celebrate 80s music and pop culture.

Also as part of that, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members Eric Clapton and James Hetfield of Metallica will have cars on display at the show — they'll be trying to snag the Goodguys West Coast Custom of the Year award. Eric Clapton will have his recently finished 1932 Ford Victoria on display indoors as well.

Over the course of the weekend, there will be indoor and outdoor car shows with more than 3,000 hot rods — Lil’ deuce coupes, hot rod roadsters, chopped Merc customs, Hemi Cuda’s, Six Pack Challengers, Boss 429 Mustangs, Pontiac GTO’s and other specialty vehicles of all years, makes and models will be on display.

There will be a Goodguys Autocross, where cars and trucks will make runs through the electronically timed Goodguys AutoCross course. The course is about 1000 feet in length and features tight turns with rapid acceleration and deceleration. Speeds average 20-30mph while testing to extreme limits the vehicle’s performance capabilities.

On Saturday, Revell Monogram will be sponsoring the Model Car Make n’ Take at 1 pm. Free model car kits will be available for the kids (while supplies last) to build the kits and take them home. A full-scale model car show will also be featured.

SWAP MEET & CARS FOR SALE CORRAL:
Thousands of vendors will be on hand in the swap meet selling rare and hard to find automotive equipment. The swap meet is a great place to get used or “experienced” impossible to find automotive stuff at rock bottom prices.

The Cars for Sale Corral is an outdoor sales arena featuring hundreds and
hundreds of collector cars for sale. The cars for sale range from turn-key ready to drive beauties to “fixer uppers” and everything in between.

Hours are Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
