In Photos: Healthy Strides for Healthy Kids

The community gathered at Lake Elizabeth for Fremont/Newark YMCA's Healthy Kids Day on April 21.

Nearly 2,000 people gathered at Lake Elizabeth in Fremont to help promote good health during the Fremont/Newark YMCA’s annual Healthy Kids Day.

And it was the first year that community members could register for the nonprofit organization’s a 5K walk or run. With 200 registered participants, Community Program Director Tony Clark said the Saturday event went well overall.

The April 21 event also featured almost 30 organizations and businesses from throughout the Tri-Cities that were on hand to promote healthy family activities.

“Our goal is to bring families together and give them healthy resources in the community,” Clark said.

Attendees were also invited to participate in fitness challenges – from jumping jacks to lunges – and play games. The annual Healthy Kids Day has been held for more than 10 years.
