Learn How to Get Healthy
Ohlone hosts event centered around creative classes that emphasize health and exercise.

Community members are invited to learn more about healthy lifestyles at an open house at the Ohlone College Newark Center.
The Healthy Living Open House offers information about a variety of physical activities that promote exercise. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
From belly dancing to Tai Chi, attendees can try a free 30-minute sample class. Indoor cycling and Qijong will also be among the trial classes available.
Demonstrations of belly dancing and martial arts will also be showcased at the event.
Dr. Barry Shibuya, a Fremont rheumatologist, will also be on hand to talk about the benefits of physical activity in order to manage arthritis pain.
Among the featured classes are:
- Belly Dancing with Naiya: These classes will be held Tuesdays from June 7-28 and July 5-26. The cost is $80 for eight classes.
- Sunrise Cycle: These morning indoor cycling courses will be held from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from May 16 through June 27. The cost is $72 for 12 classes.
- Tai Chi and Qigong Prep: Learn about Qigong and Tai Chi from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturdays from June 11 until July 23. The cost is $50 for 6 classes.
- Chen Style Tai Chi: The original form of Tai Chi is taught during this two-hour class that begins at 11 a.m. The class will be held from June 11 to July 23 at the cost of $100 for six classes.

The Healthy Living Open House is free for the public and will be held at the college's Newark center at 39399 Cherry Street.
