18-Year-Old Critically Injured in Stabbing
Police are investigating a stabbing and shooting that occurred within five hours of one another. Authorities have not determined whether the two incidents are related.

An 18-year-old Newark man was critically injured in a at the Newark Square Shopping Center Tuesday, police said.
Authorities said officers were called to the shopping center just before 8 p.m. Tuesday and found a man who had been stabbed multiple times.
Newark Police Cmdr. Michael Carroll said Wednesday the injuries are life-threatening.

Friends of the victim took him to a local hospital. He was then taken to a trauma center, police said.
It is unknown whether the incident was gang-related, but Carroll said investigators are “looking at all possible motives.”

Carroll added that police don't know whether the stabbing and a drive-by shooting that occurred after midnight Wednesday are related.
Police said about six shots were fired into a home on the 6300 block of Mirabeau Drive around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported, but police said it is believed the shooting is gang-related.
“We are investigating if both are related, but it is unknown at this time,” Carroll said.
No arrests have been made and no suspect information is available in either incident. Carroll said the investigation is ongoing.
