Man Tries to Evade Officers, Isn’t Successful
Luis Cuellar, 29, of Palo Alto, faces multiple charges including resisting arrest and vandalism.

A Palo Alto man led Newark officers on a chase early Friday morning before ultimately being arrested.
According to the Newark Police Department, officers were sent to the 5600 block of Musick Avenue at about 2:45 a.m. to investigate a domestic disturbance. Relatives reported that 29-year-old Luis Cuellar was screaming and striking a vehicle.
Cuellar fled the area in an SUV before officers arrived. While en route, an officer spotted the SUV speeding southbound on Newark Boulevard at Civic Terrace. Cuellar stopped briefly as the officer tried to pull him over, but then sped off westbound on Central Avenue.

Cuellar drove up to 20 mph over the speed limit and was weaving through lanes, according to police.
The suspect turned onto Perrin Avenue, a dirt road, and stopped when he came to a metal gate that blocked vehicle access.

Cuellar ran from the SUV and attempted to resist arrest but was eventually subdued.
He was arrested on suspicion of evading police officers, resisting arrest and vandalism.
