Motorist Loses Control of Car, Tire Flies into Yard

No injuries were reported.

A 54-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after he lost control of his vehicle as a result of hitting two parked cars on Cedar Boulevard, police said.

Police said they responded to the collision on Cedar Boulevard near Dupont Avenue and learned that the man had been driving at high speeds on southbound Cedar Boulevard and ended up hitting two parked cars around 7:30 p.m.

At that time, the car traveled across Cedar Boulevard and lost a spare tire, which traveled toward a home, according to the Newark Police Department. Witnesses said the tire landed in the yard of the house.

The man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and driving with a suspended license.
