Need to Know: Gardening for 9/11, Theatre Auditions, Soccer Season Starts

Here are five things you need to know in and around Newark through Sept. 11.
- Three of the five men arrested on suspicion of robbing 15 locations in southern Alameda County are scheduled to be arraigned in court today and tomorrow. One of the men was originally scheduled for arraignment last Thursday, while the other did not have a court date listed. to learn more about their arrests.
- Ohlone College Theatre is holding audition for its fall production of Servant of Two Masters. The auditions will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. inside the NUMMI Studio Theatre at the Smith Center at Ohlone College’s Fremont campus, 43600 Mission Blvd. for more details.
- NewPark Mall staff members and Tri-Cities League of Volunteers will team up on Wednesday. It is part of the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance movement.
- An opening day ceremony to recognize the start of the 2011 Newark Soccer Club Fall Season will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday. Up to 40 teams will brighten the Silliman Center Sportsfield that evening with their team banners. Come see who will win awards for the best banner and most spirit!
- A will be held for former Solyndra employees and vendors on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Newark’s , 39399 Cherry St. The event comes one week after the company announced its plans to close.
