Newark Man, 75, Struck by Pickup Saturday Morning Dies at Hospital
The crash was reported in the area of Mowry Avenue at Rockrose Drive at 5:58 a.m. Saturday.
NEWARK, CA — A 75-year-old man who was struck by a truck in Newark early Saturday morning later died of his injuries, according to police. Officers responded to Mowry Avenue at Rockrose Drive at 5:58 a.m. Saturday on report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The victim, identified as Froilan Hernandez, was crossing Mowry when he was hit by a 2016 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by a 46-year-old woman. Hernandez was transported to San Jose Regional Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
The driver remained at the scene, and investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
