Newark Man Dies in Thursday Morning Crash

Three others suffered minor injuries, according to the CHP.

Bay City News Service—A Newark man was killed in a car crash while working for a local open space district near La Honda in San Mateo County late this morning.

Luis Audelo-Partida, 26, died after a car crashed off a dirt road in the rural area, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash at Alpine and Mindego Hill roads, near the Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve.

Police said the vehicle was being driven in an area without a paved road. Only one fatality has been confirmed. Three other people suffered minor injuries, according to CHP Officer Kevin Barlett.

Three medical helicopters were dispatched to the area.

Audelo-Partida was driving with other contractors who were in the area spraying non-native plants for the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, said Gordon Baillie, the district spokesman.
