Newark Orchard Supply Hardware Closes Friday

The store is ransacked, with much of the store cleared out.

If you’re hoping to capitalize on the 70 to 90 percent store-closing sale at the Newark Orchard Supply Hardware store, good luck.

The hardware store, located at 5655 Jarvis Ave., shuts down for good in just three days. Everything, including all store fixtures, must go by Friday.

But much of the store is already cleared out, with only a handful of aisles still standing. Their popular nursery, tools and paint sections — all gone.

On Tuesday afternoon all that was left on the shelves were some weed killers, a few bottles of paint stripper, some obscure paint colors, various nuts and bolts, and miscellaneous items that only contractors and electricians would have any use for. The spray can display case was on sale for $200.

The Newark store is one of 17 closing throughout the state as a result of the chain filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June.
