Newark Police Deploying Sobriety Checkpoint
Time to find a designated driver for the Labor Day weekend festivities.

Newark Police announced Tuesday that it will place sobriety checkpoints throughout the city on Saturday, starting at 7 p.m.
Officers are scheduled to be on Thornton Avenue all night, stopping vehicles to see if drivers are sober and licensed.
The initiative is part of a countywide initiative sponsored by the Alameda County Chiefs of Police & Sheriff's Association. 21 other law enforcement agencies in Alameda County are participating this Labor Day weekend.
